Founder of JustEmbed — the background behind the proposition, and what drives it.
Raymond has spent about fifteen years in embedded software — much of it as a consultant in the high-tech sector, and a stretch inside companies shipping their own hardware. The work has ranged across embedded Linux and BSP development, system integration, graphics and UI, connectivity and protocols, technical architecture, and technical leadership on delivery teams — with one thread running through all of it: building the platform a product runs on, and keeping it running afterwards.
Doing that across enough products made a pattern clear. The platform layer — the BSP, the update mechanism, the build and release pipeline — is where a product's security, its maintainability, and its regulatory position are actually decided. It is also the part a manufacturer is least equipped to own alone, and the part most often treated as a one-time cost rather than something with a lifetime.
JustEmbed is built around that. It started as the vehicle for independent embedded engineering work, and it is being built into a company with a single, defined proposition: take responsibility for the embedded platform — from BSP and hardware integration through lifecycle, updates, and the security capabilities required to keep it healthy over time — so a manufacturer's own team can stay focused on the product itself.
Security is part of that same platform work, not a separate line — a secure update path and CVE-aware builds are ordinary practice, not a future add-on. To hold that to a rising bar as the regulatory landscape matures, Raymond is following the Cybersecurity Leadership Academy at the University of Amsterdam — ongoing development that's actively shaping the engineering, not a claim to finished cybersecurity expertise.
What ties it together is a long-standing preference for better tools and processes over familiar ones — refining how the engineering itself gets done, not just what it produces. AI-assisted engineering is the current form of that: it is a large part of how a small, focused company can now bring the platform and the security work together and actually deliver them — turning the proposition from a concept into something real.
